A single exposure of clouds and the Milky Way at night. The clouds are glowing with light from a distant town. Nordhouse Dunes Wilderness, Lake Michigan.

That is just amazing. I ve taken shots at 12 minute exposures and it has never received that type of depth. Even in "healthy" locations. please keep it up!

Pretty freakin killer. Clouds not moving over 30s is pretty lucky. The combination of the stars poking through the clouds is killer. Well done man

great shot, couldn't really believe it was a single exposure at first, but i can see how it would work in low light with a longer exposure...

what an incredible combination - it gives a very three-dimensional effect, as if you could reach beyond the clouds :giggle:
love the simple silhouette to give the whole thing an anchor - just a beautiful idea you executed damn-well! :wow:

This looks surreal. I can't believe you can still see so many stars with all that light from the town. This makes me want to go somewhere far from city lights so I can see a sky like this. Great capture!

I actually passed a llama farm with llamas for sale while driving. But that doesn't count . . .

Mostly high pressure skies actually -- not a terribly productive trip, and I was in pain from recent oral surgery. But fun to be out on Superior nonetheless!
