The Far Side of the World by Ian-Plant The Far Side of the World by Ian-Plant
I've never felt as alone as I did on the western side of the Andes Mountains, near the southern tip of South America, after trekking over remote and beautiful Paso del Viento (Pass of the Winds). My guide and I didn't see a single other person for three days. I made this image at sunset one evening, using a heavy stack of neutral density filters to lengthen my exposure, allowing for the colors of sunset to paint across the scene. To me, this image captures my feeling of being on the far side of the world. Los Glaciares National Park, Patagonia, Argentina.

This is what I'd call a 'successful image', something with impact and this sure as hell has that effect on me. Top notch :)

That color and landscape are surreal. Not sure my feelings on comp...something is a bit unsettling about the centered nature of the rock...could just be a knee-jerk feeling. Keep those images coming

Oh I do not...just sometimes. My eye wants to plug a bit instead of wander b/c of the size of the rock with respect to placement...

(of course i read that comment to blue oyster cult)

Very cool. Somewhere out there. At the end of the world sits a lone rock. Just wonder if and when someone else will come by and take it's picture. May never happen again. :)

I never thought of it that way, but you are right: that rock has probably never been photographed before, and probably won't ever be photographed again. Wicked cool!
