I've never felt as alone as I did on the western side of the Andes Mountains, near the southern tip of South America, after trekking over remote and beautiful Paso del Viento (Pass of the Winds). My guide and I didn't see a single other person for three days. I made this image at sunset one evening, using a heavy stack of neutral density filters to lengthen my exposure, allowing for the colors of sunset to paint across the scene. To me, this image captures my feeling of being on the far side of the world. Los Glaciares National Park, Patagonia, Argentina.
